Today, we’re going to focus on local Tampa area marketing. Why, because people still don’t seem to be getting the benefits from what is available from Google and beyond.
First, if you have a local business in Tampa, Orlando, Clearwater or anywhere around here, the real estate on Google’s front page is becoming increasingly hard to keep a stronghold in. When you type in Best Tampa Marketing Firms in a Google search, we come up right in the top, but only because we have to work at it. If you own an actual store in Tampa or have people come to your location, like a showroom, it’s even harder. Google’s maps want people to see things very near them. That’s a good thing if you are a consumer, but not so awesome if you are a business trying to get people in the door.
Your Google Business listing is actually the lowest hanging fruit you might have to see positive rankings, so let’s talk about how to amplify your listing for people searching around let’s say the Tampa market.
Our listing is pretty simple but has all the elements you need to rank in a localized Tampa search:
Name, contact information, hours, directions using a Google Map.
What it also has are “posts”. These are elements that show on the listing that can explain or promote something you are offering. This can be an event or show you will be attending, a special sale going on or especially an informational post about your industry.
For clients, I love structuring the Google posts with information in easy-to-use elements. These include lists of “The 5 things you should ask a (insert your business type here), before making a decision”. We often use infographics to illustrate the way things work when someone hires you. “The 5 step process to a new safe roof”.
Additionally, if you are in a trade or people ask you similar questions, have people ask questions on your local element and answer them. Just make sure when you answer, you are giving a legitimate answer and not just a sales pitch.
Additionally, move on to your visual elements. You can post pictures and videos that can show both what your office, store or workshop looks like, but you can show what you do and how you do it! People want to know the “Why” you do things as well, so make sure to include any charity work or local Tampa involvement you are part of! If you gave out free water at Gasparilla, then make sure you show it! If you help Metropolitan Ministries collect cans on the weekends with all your employees, show it!
Make the Google local element a part of your local Tampa marketing efforts and treat it like the front door and front window of your shop. This is THE very first thing people see when searching and so it is critical you give it love and care!
